The Melon Music Awards are back with a bang in 2022! The MMAs is one of the most prestigious awards shows in K-Pop, and the performances are always next level. Artists go all out (remember that 37-minute showstopper from BTS in 2019?), and this ceremony was no exception! We simply don’t have words to explain the entire four-and-a-half-hour-long show, but we’ll do our best to sum up six of our favorite performances from the 2022 MMAs right here!
‘Nxde’ And ‘TOMBOY’ By (G)I-DLE
(G)I-DLE had one of the most iconic nights at the MMAs! Soyeon won Songwriter of the Year, and honestly, the other (G)I-DLE were just as emotional over the win as Soyeon was, making for a very sweet acceptance speech! Then came their performance, and the Moulin Rouge-esque concept for this version of ‘Nxde’ was maybe our fave styling of the night. Plus, Yuqi’s guitar solo?! How could we not be obsessed?

‘FEARLESS’ And ‘ANTIFRAGILE’ By LE SSERAFIM
LE SSERAFIM started the evening by winning Best Performance – Female, and then they proved exactly why to the entire 2022 MMA audience. Kazuha flexed her ballet skills in the intro, and then all five members blew us away with performances of their two title tracks and a killer dance break. LE SSERAFIM have so much stage presence that it’s hard to comprehend that they’re rookies, so they’re definitely ones to watch.

‘Blessed-Cursed’ And ‘Future Perfect (Pass The MIC)’ By ENHYPEN
Two words: Dance. Break. We’re not exaggerating when we say this will go down as one of the best performances in ENHYPEN’s career. From the intro inside a glass box to Sunghoon being injected to Jake and Sunoo dancing upside down (yes, literally), we were just completely blown away. ENHYPEN also took home the 1theK Global Icon award, and no one is gonna find it hard to see why.

‘LOVE DIVE’ And ‘After LIKE’ By IVE
IVE absolutely cleaned up at the 2022 MMAs, and it’s clear they’re earning a reputation as monster rookies. The girls won Best Group – Female, New Artist of the Year, and Best Song of the Year for ‘LOVE DIVE,’ as well as the Top 10 Bonsang. The other New Artist of the Year winner was, of course, NewJeans, making this the first year ever where both rookie winners were girl groups. They proved their reputation is earned with stellar performances of their two biggest hits, but our highlight has to be their intro, where member Liz performed a piano version of ‘ELEVEN.’

‘Good Boy Gone Bad’ By TOMORROW X TOGETHER
Oh, would you look at that? It’s just our 4th Gen It Boys killing the stage once again. TXT’s dance breaks (yes, plural) and references to their past eras completely blew our minds, as did their live vocals on ‘Good Boy Gone Bad.’ But most importantly of all, in 2022, TXT kept up their annual tradition of revealing the name of the next era in their MMA performances. Guess we best start mentally preparing ourselves for The Name Chapter!

‘LOVE’ And ‘Rush Hour’ By MONSTA X
MONBEBE stay spoiled! We can’t believe we were blessed with a jazz version of ‘LOVE’ and a rock version of ‘Rush Hour.’ The arrangement for this version of ‘LOVE’ was as slick as MONSTA X always are, and it was so good to see them back on our screens! We can’t even talk about how good ‘Rush Hour’ was because we’re not ready to discuss those outfits. I.M. shouting out Shownu, who is currently enlisted, made our MONBEBE hearts so full.
