8 New Year’s Resolutions Inspired By Your K-Pop Faves

As the end of 2022 nears, we at THP are working hard on making 2023 an even better year than this one. From exclusive interviews and premieres to live concerts, we’ve accomplished so much! But this is only the beginning for us, and we’re claiming everything good for the new year.

With that said, it’s time to set our New Year’s resolutions. And this year, we’re doing it a little differently. We’ve decided to take inspiration from eight of our favorite K-Pop groups, using lyrics from songs they released in 2022.

THP is a safe space for fans, and it always will be! We hope you can find comfort and inspiration in our New Year’s resolutions too!

1. Find Happiness In The Little Things

We’re starting off with our breakup anthem of the year, AKA Blackpink’s ‘The Happiest Girl.’ Whether you’ve been heartbroken or in your feels for most of this year, keep your chin up! Start by writing about one thing from each day that made you feel happy or proud of yourself. Then you can find the will to deal with the pain, move on, and become the happiest version of yourself yet!

2. Avoid Comparing Yourself To Others

Excuse our sentimentality, but Seventeen’s ‘Dream’ reminds us of how inspirational these boys are. We’re taking a page from this song for our New Year’s resolutions, specifically the second verse:

I have passed by countless stars / But there isn’t a single one that didn’t shine / There isn’t a single one that wasn’t precious.”

Every person you meet has their own story, and yours isn’t going to be exactly like someone else’s, no matter how much you want it to be. Everyone has a path to follow, and only you can decide which one is best for you.

3. Protect Your Inner Child

The chorus in TWICE’s ‘When We Were Kids’ hits different for us. Now that we’re adults, we can’t afford to take anything for granted. Nor can we live every day being too busy to do the things we actually enjoy. Buy that plushy you’ve been eyeing for weeks, play outside until it gets dark, and have breakfast for dinner. The world may not be everything we imagined, but there are plenty of things to bring us joy.

4. Be Yourself Unapologetically

Going hand-in-hand with No. 2 on this list, Stray Kids’ ‘Maniac’ inspires us to be ourselves at all costs. In a time when trends and fads rise and fall so quickly on the internet, we should stay true to ourselves. Avoid being pressured to put yourself in a box or act a certain way because you think it’ll make you look cool. Do things because you want to do them, not because everyone else is doing the same.

5. Boost Your Self-Confidence

You can tell that self-love is a big thing we’re working on in 2023. For this New Year’s resolution, we’re listening to the second verse of IVE’s ‘My Satisfaction:’

Love myself so that I don’t lose myself / I don’t mind such prejudice that never ends / I’m satisfied with myself reflected in your eyes

Whether you doubt your self-worth or struggle with standing up for yourself, know that no one should love you more than you love yourself. You are enough and have always been enough, and it’s about time you realized it.

6. Welcome Big Changes

Why not start a revolution in yourself in 2023? ATEEZ’s ‘New World’ is the ultimate soundtrack for taking on any obstacle, internal or external. If your goal in 2023 is to be better than you were in 2022, you need to be willing to open your eyes and your mind. Don’t hesitate to try something new. It’s a new year, after all. And a new world. A new you.

7. Spend More Time With Friends

This New Year’s resolution is one of our favorites, and we were inspired by Mamamoo’s ‘L.I.E.C.’ No matter how busy we get next year, we want to try making space for as many dates, hangouts, and vacations as we can. Spending time with friends and doing whatever we wish to sounds like the ideal day for us. Especially when we turn off our phones and lose track of time in each other’s company.

8. Take Every Opportunity For Growth

Last but not least, we have a goal inspired by ‘Yet To Come’ by BTS. We have no doubt that the new year will bring us even more opportunities than the last. We’re going to try to make the most of everything that finds us, however challenging it may be. We hope to take risks and aim as high as possible because the best moment is yet to come. Whether you look back fondly on 2022 or not, now’s the chance to try to make 2023 an even better one.
