Our Summer Just Got Brighter With The Return Of Ashe, And Her New Single ‘Running Out Of Time’

Oh my god, okay it’s happening, everybody stay calm. Jokes, we’ve never been calm a day in our lives. But you already knew that, right?

So when our fave Nashville star recently went active on Pinterest, we stood to attention. When she then joined Niall Horan on stage for ‘Moral of The Story’ in New York for her first live performance since 2022, we lost every bit of chill in our bodies. And when she greeted us all with “Hello again…” on Instagram, we lost any remaining brain cells we had left. We knew it was time. We knew someone and something special was coming back to our lives. Now, less than one week later, that special something has arrived! Ashlyn Rae Willson, our Ashe, has returned. Her brand new single ‘Running Out Of Time’ is ours to thrive in. Her upcoming album Willson is in touching distance. Basically what we’re saying is, it’s been a lot of emotions to feel in 7 days. But we wouldn’t change it for the world. Welcome back, Ashe. Welcome home, Ashe fans!

Or running exactly on time for this return to the industry? We think so. After taking some time away from the music industry and touring, Ashe has come back at exactly the right time, simply because it is right for Ashe. We will always support and applaud this self-prioritization. As avid Ashe fans and supporters, all we and you have wanted is for Ashe to return when she feels ready; and we are so emotional and proud that it’s now that time. And what a way to do it!

‘Running Out Of Time’ brings a fresh yet authentic Ashe sound, stamped with “I’m back!” vibe perfection. Co-written with the sonic stars we’ve come to know and love: Julian Bunetta (Yes, One Direction song writer extraordinaire Julian!), Steph Jones (Sabrina Carpenter’s ‘Espresso,’ and Boygenuis producers Collin Pastore and Jake Finch, this shimmering summer bop is everything we could have wanted for Ashe’s confident homecoming! What a team!

The sunny disposition of this up-tempo yet crooning single immediately welcomed us to this new chapter of Ashe. While we have no doubt that the upcoming album will at times hit us with wounding emotion, this first single is bringing us all the “driving with the windows down” summer serotonin and sparkle. A metaphor perhaps for the prologue to Ashe’s return, ‘Running Out Of Time’ bounds out into the world with a spring in its step. It’s confident, bold, and present, hopefully a signal to where Ashe is at in her journey. From the first bars of this beautiful art, we felt like Ashe was telling us “I’m good”, and actually, just as the song dropped on June 28th, we listened closely and we’re sure we heard you all breathe a sigh of relieved joy.

Is it a love song? Yeah, kinda. But tickle beneath the surface, and you’ll find that this love is actual internal. It’s in the freedom of finally accepting passing time, of uncertainty and lack of control, and of the moments where that light at the end of the tunnel isn’t quite shining yet, but searching for that glow regardless.

Those summer vibes explode in the Ashe co-directed and produced music video, and as we soak in the “Rae’s” (…. sorry) of this sunkissed treat, we can’t help but find ourselves kicking our feet as we frolic with Ashe. We dive head first into the fruit salad bowl that is the ‘Running Out Of Time’ music video, with nods to retro “pop up” beauty, and… Bob Ross? If we had to describe this stunning music video in one word, it would be “Happiness.” Thankfully it’s our job to use lots of words, so we’re here to write a novella about this single and music video. It’s only what she deserves! Did anyone else just keep repeating “Yey she’s back!” throughout your first watch through? Yeah, us too! 10 seconds in and we were beaming from ear to ear as we breathed the apple and strawberry scented breeze throughout this creation. Can we also take a moment to preach on how absolutely beautiful Ashe looks throughout? Fun fact, Ashe is listed as her own make-up artist for the video. Obsessed. Is there anything this star can’t do?
