Hey Honeybees, if you haven’t heard of SkyDxddy before today, you’re in for a treat for this one. SkyDxddy is a talented singer, rapper, and songwriter who’s been making music for years now. She got her start in the country music scene but has since changed genres, including alt-pop/rock and hip-hop/rap. However, if you were to ask her, she would define her music as traumacore.
SkyDxddy is the artist who will turn what she’s gone through and dealt with into a great song or verse if it’s for someone else’s song. While we could tell you the different themes for her song right now, we’ll let the article do the talking for us, but let’s start by telling you that these twelve songs capture the heart of SkyDxddy’s music.
‘For The Misfits’
“Like I was never really sick, twisted or infected
And its because I wasn’t
I’m just gay
And i finally found the one that tells me everyday thats okay“
The first song on our list is ‘For The Misfits.’ The song explores themes of self-discovery, love, and pride. SkyDxddy doesn’t shy away from the fact that she’s a proud member of the LGBTQIA+ community. It shows in some of her songs. ‘For The Misfits’ is about the moment she discovered she was gay. Coming to terms with one’s sexuality can be a big moment for a person, and that’s exactly how it was for the singer. While she’s celebrating who she is, she also calls out people who are intolerant towards the LGBTQIA+ community. If you need a reminder of how amazing you are in the face of intolerance, remember these SkyDxddy lyrics: “He created us, didn’t he? Gave us a gift to see the world differently. made us fabulous as f*ck without any nips and tucks.”
A playlist about acceptance, songs by LGBTQIA+ artists, or love would suit this song well.
‘MONSTERPIECE’
“It’s real it’s deep
It’s all that I envisioned unleashed
It’s dark it’s sweet
It’s what everybody in this world needs“
‘Monsterpiece’ shines the light on the issue of vanity. The song explores themes of superficiality, self-acceptance, and beauty. We live in a society where people believe in superficial beauty standards. Some care so much they’ll do anything to look “perfect.” The song tells the story of someone who becomes a “monster” due to unrealistic expectations. While telling a story, SkyDxddy includes commentary on objectification, misogyny, and internalized misogyny.
She wants to be free of those things and wants others to free themselves, too. While SkyDxddy calls herself a monster throughout the song, the real monster is society. The monsters are people who criticize others’ appearances. They’re the media. They’re not the ones who think they need to change their appearance.
A playlist about vanity, empowerment, or inner struggles would suit this song well.
‘To Whom It May Concern’
“To whom it may concern
I hope you put in all the work
And i hope you learn to put yourself first
Even when you going through the worst”
Want to hear a song that’s a raw and honest open letter? ‘To Whom It May Concern’ is that song. The song is for those who have ever felt like giving up on something. It’s for the underdogs. The song is for those who have the potential to change the world. It’s for the people who have big dreams. The song explores themes of self-worth, inner battles, and overcoming adversity. There will always be someone who tells others they can’t do things, from strangers to their inner voice. Skydxddy knows that. After all, she wrote the song about moments like that. ‘To Whom It May Concern’ is about fighting internal struggles. It’s about not letting others define you. Skydxddy tries to encourage others to keep going and never give up. She believes people will find who they were meant to be, and knowing someone does is an amazing feeling.
A playlist about motivation, personal growth, or playlists featuring songs that serve as a letter would suit this song well.
‘Triggered’
Content Warning: Mention of mental health (PTSD)
SkyDxddy has several songs about mental health, as she’s very vocal about the mental health diagnoses that she has. One song that explores it is ‘Triggered.’ The song explores the theme of PTSD. The lyrics find SkyDxddy singing about the things she goes through as someone who lives with PTSD. She refers to the memories she would rather not have as demons, as they keep haunting her. She wishes people would try to understand what it’s like for someone to have to live with PTSD. SkyDxddy tries to cope with it, but it’s hard regardless of what she does. If there’s one thing we can say about this song, it’s that it’s real, raw, deep, and gives us a glimpse of what it’s like for someone to live with PTSD. Keep going, SkyDxddy; we’re here for you.
A playlist about mental health or PTSD would suit this song well.
‘All Alone’
Content Warning: mental health
“Somebody come save me please
I’m reaching for your hand to hold
To let me know I’m not alone
Please anybody try to stop me”
Ever felt like you were all alone in the world? Many people have moments where they feel alone. People may feel alone in a room full of people. Skydxddy’s “All Alone” captures the feeling of being alone. The song explores themes of vulnerability, isolation, and mental health. In the song, Skydxddy is struggling with her mental health and wants to reach out to others. However, when she does, no one’s there to listen or help. It only adds to what she feels. The feeling can be overwhelming. It can be too much. She experiences regret and confusion throughout the song.
If there’s one takeaway from this song, it’s that while one may feel alone in the world, there are others who feel the same.
A playlist about loneliness, mental health awareness, or self-reflection would suit this song well.
‘Madness’ featuring Enkay47
“It’s such a cruel world
For all the boys and girls
And it’s so tragic
This life of madness”
The world can be harsh and overwhelming. ‘Madness’ is a song that expresses that. The song explores themes of society, despair, and corruption. The song focuses on how society ignores systemic pain and mental health. Skydxddy and Enkay47 don’t shy away from criticizing how we live in a desensitized world. They know ignoring things won’t make changes happen. They acknowledge how actual change needs to happen.
A playlist about society, mental health, or reflection would suit this song well.
‘Generation Z’
“We’re so tired
We wanna live the way we want
And we’re on fire
You want us to live how we don’t”
‘Generation Z’ is an anthem for Gen Z. It features another Gen Z artist, Austin Rudin. The song explores themes of rebellion, authenticity, and identity. Older generations have always wanted younger generations to live up to outdated standards. They want everything done their way, and the song calls out the frustrations younger generations face. During the intro, SkyDxddy says, “There’s going to be so many people trying to get inside your head, like they know better, telling you what you should or shouldn’t do. Yo, fuck those people.” It sets the tone for the song.
Younger generations are tired of living up to others’ expectations. They’re tired of feeling controlled. They’re tired of living in a superficial and fabricated world like what they see on social media. Most of all, they’re burnt out. We’re frustrated. They want to be their true selves. They want their freedom. Like Skydxddy, many of people are tired of others wanting to criticize their looks every chance they get. And like Austin Rudin, they wish people would stop flashing their money and start focusing on having empathy instead. The fact that she made a song focused on how older generations act towards younger counterparts speaks volumes.
A playlist about identity, coming of age, would suit this song well.
‘BATTLEFIELD’
“It’s been this way for centuries
So we must trust no man“
We love a song that takes a stand against injustices towards marginalized communities. ‘BATTLEFIELD’ explores themes of reproductive rights, body autonomy, and rebellion. The unapologetic song is about people who are affected by reproductive laws coming together as one to protect their right to have a choice when men are trying to control their bodies. SkyDxddy portrays how a lot of people who are affected feel throughout the song, from being angry, frustrated, and ready to continue the fight for their freedom and equality.
She calls out everything wrong with the men in power with lyrics such as ‘It seems to me your neck deep into one too many pleasantries, gee it must be nice to be above all of this peasantry.” Whew, SkyDxddy knew what she was doing when she wrote this song.
A playlist about resistance, activism, and anger would suit this song well.
‘DON’T TALK ABOUT IT’
Content Warning: mental health (depression)
“Every time I open up I know what you say, don’t talk about it
It’s like you’re so far gone you think I’m insane, don’t talk”
No one likes feeling ignored or overlooked when dealing with expressing their feelings. It can be frustrating, and ‘DON’T TALK ABOUT IT’ lets people know they’re not the only one. The song explores themes of mental health stigma, isolation, and suppression. SkyDxddy tackles what it’s like to live with a mental health condition, although she outright mentions depression and the symptoms that come with it. She uses the song to show how people who don’t know what it’s like have to deal with society, their friends, and even family, not wanting to hear what they have to say when they feel anything but happy. It leads one to want to shut out and put on a fake smile and not want to say anything. Can you say relatable?
We hope not, but we also know that’s something some people can’t escape. It should be noted that the song has two different versions, the original and a sad version.
A playlist about mental health, inner battles, or vulnerability would suit this song well.
‘Pretty Distraction’
Content Warning: s*xual harrassment
“What a terrible life for a woman
Who just wants to be left alone
What a horrible world for all of the girls
Getting cat called as they’re walking home“
‘Pretty Distraction’ is a song that girls and women everywhere can relate to. The song explores themes of misogyny, harassment, and empowerment. The song stands as a powerful message in solidarity with girls and women alike. SkyDxddy knows how to do a lot of things, and painting a story with her lyrics is one of those things. The song is about what women have to go through daily in the world. SkyDxddy sings about how in a world that should respect women, there are men out there who would rather objectify, manipulate, and s*xually harass women.
She doesn’t hold back when it comes to calling out men, as during the pre-chorus she sings, ‘They’re always trying to take what’s not theirs.” In the same song, she acknowledges how they try to stay safe and how they have the power to reclaim their power and control over themselves. The song is the sad reality of how the world works, but it’s a much-needed reminder. SkyDxddy, thank you for providing a song everyone should listen to.
A playlist about frustrations with society, women’s empowerment, and social justice would suit this song well.
‘Why Do I Stay’ featuring Alex Kade
“I must get off on all pain
Cause I’m hard on myself for my mistakes”
Going through a bad breakup or know someone who is that’s questioning themselves? SkyDxddy’s ‘Why Me’ is a good song for that. The song explores themes of toxic relationships, self-destructive behavior, and conflict. The lyrics portray SkyDxddy finding herself knowing someone is bad for her and wondering why she continues to be with them. She should leave and run for the hills, but can never get herself to fully commit to doing so. It’s a battle for her to decide whether to leave or stay, which is something that many people go through. It helps a little to know you’re not the only one.
A playlist about toxic love, heartbreak, or emotional pain would suit this song well.
‘Heavy’ with Citizen Soldier
Content Warning: mental health
“I’ve got a closet full of skeletons
But I don’t think that you can handle them
I’ve got a milion reasons why I keep it guarded”
There’s a lot to unpack with this one. As you’ve read, SkyDxddy has bared her heart and soul in every one of her songs. ‘Heavy’ is a collaboration between her and Citizen Soiler. The song explores emotional burden, abandonment, and vulnerability. The song is similar to SkyDxddy’s ‘DON’T TALK ABOUT IT.’ However, while ‘DON’T TALK ABOUT IT’ is about mental health stigma, this song isn’t.
‘Heavy’ is about how it feels when it comes to wanting to open up to others but also wanting to suppress one’s feelings due to feeling as if no one truly cares about what you’re feeling or going through unless you’re happy. It can be a painful thing to feel as if no one cares or wants to be around you when you’re down. SkyDxddy and Citizen Soldier do an amazing job of capturing the pain of carrying the emotional weight that one has to carry around with them during those times. The song is unfiltered and honest, and they do a great job of putting things into perspective. Remember if you’re going through what the song is about, you’re far from alone.
A playlist about mental health, powerful messages, and vulnerability would suit this song well.
