Stray Kids‘ Han has established himself countless times as a unique force and a one-of-a-kind ace in K-Pop. From songwriter to dancer, from rapper to vocalist, there’s nothing Han can’t do, and more than anything, there’s nothing he can’t excel at. As a main rapper and a producer in Stray Kids, Han also has one of the most impressive and unpredictable vocal abilities in Stray Kids, and here are some of the times he has blown us away with his talent.
‘Hellevator’
Right from the beginning, Han established himself as an all-rounder. ‘Hellevator‘ is known for its high pitch, and Han tackled those high notes from day one with ease and power, embodying the song to perfection. As ‘Hellevator‘ has remained one of the most meaningful and iconic songs in Stray Kids‘ discography, their performance of the song has become more special with time, and the showcase of Han’s vocal power with this performance has only grown. Now, every time Stray Kids perform it, you just know Han will blow us away by taking it even further than the original track.
Masked Singer
Back in 2019, during ‘MIROH’ era, Han was the first Stray Kids member to go on Masked Singer. It may have been a long time ago and, yes, he has become an even greater vocalist since, but this performance will always have a special place in our hearts as he mixes different vocal methods and smoothly makes the song his own. It was one of the first instances we got to hear his vocals fully as a singer, and it has remained a performance we’ll always cherish.
‘I’ll Be Your Man’
It is impossible to talk about Han‘s vocals without mentioning the performance that made it simply impossible to deny he was truly a one-of-a-kind idol: ‘I’ll Be Your Man.’ Stray Kids tackled a vocally heavy and truly challenging performance in the second round of Kingdom, and it gave us one of the most beautiful and emotional performances. Han and Seungmin took on the most difficult parts, especially with their high note at the end, and Han blew everyone away with vocals that remain, to this day, one of the most impressive things he has ever pulled off.
‘We Are’ (Originally by ONE OK ROCK)
The entirety of Han‘s episode on Lee Mujin’s Service deserves a huge highlight: from arranging ‘CASE 143‘ as a solo, revamping TWICE’s ‘Alcohol-Free,’ tackling one of YB’s most challenging songs, ‘Blue Whale,’ and blending his vocals beautifully with Lee Mujin’s in the final track. But there’s a moment in this episode that will always remain in our minds, and that’s Han‘s short, raw acapella cover of ONE OK ROCK‘s ‘We Are.’ Taka being one of the most impressive vocalists in the industry in general, covering any of ONE OK ROCK’s songs is a challenge. But Han‘s control, power, and perfect raspiness as he sang set him apart as one of the few who resemble Taka’s immense vocal power – and that’s far from an easy fit.
‘Social Path’
‘Social Path‘ was the first time Stray Kids had a featured artist in one of their songs, as opposed to being the ones featured. LiSA was the perfect fit as she delivered some incredible vocal moments, adding so much more depth to such a meaningful song. But when it comes to performing it live at every concert stop, Han is the one who carries her high and powerful parts. Han‘s control and power during this song are always something to look forward to, and every time, it showcases not only his talent but just how much passion he has for performing.
‘VOLCANO’ & ‘Hold On’ With Seungmin
The duo of Han and Seungmin is truly a force to be reckoned with. From ‘I’ll Be Your Man’ and ‘Neverending Song’ to their duet ‘Respirator,’ these two together complement each other perfectly and make each other shine even brighter. ‘VOLCANO‘ and ‘Hold On‘ are both songs written by Han, one originally sung by Han himself and the other by Seungmin, and having them revamp these songs to turn them into duets makes them hit even harder. With ‘VOLCANO‘ having that hard-hitting rock energy and ‘Hold On‘ being the perfect ballad, these songs show the best blend of Han’s lyricism, artistry, and vocals.
His Instagram Covers
Ever since Han joined Instagram, he has given us even more of a glimpse into his artistry. Whether it’s with his guitar or with an instrumental, Han has been covering songs here and there on his Instagram, and it’s been one of the best parts of Stray Kids having individual accounts. And just like his snippet cover of ‘We Are’ has stuck with us, his short covers on Instagram have left a lasting impact and have allowed him to showcase even more of his vocal power and his versatility as a vocalist too, covering songs from rock to pop, and everything in between. There is truly no song he can’t make his own.
‘Hold My Hand’
‘Hold My Hand‘ is the Han song by excellence. Everything about it is perfect for showcasing every side of his talent. He has a particular side to his vocals that fits rock so perfectly, and every performance of ‘Hold My Hand‘ showed exactly that: the emotion, the raspiness, the energy, and the message. ‘Hold My Hand‘ is simply unmatched, but songs like ‘back to life’ show that Han is always ready to grow more as a musician and a vocalist. We’re far from having seen the best of Han.
