Sydney Rose – ‘oat milk’

Sydney isn’t new to us here at The Honey Pop, and we are so glad to have discovered her when we did. Her new track, ‘oat milk,’ is all things heartwarming and heartbreaking.

The story of love that Sydney paints through the emotions in her voice and the specificity of the lyrics, “You feel like a dream / You feel like a warm crewneck / that came out of the laundry,” is incredibly relatable yet a truly personalized experience, something most people will or have felt in their own unique way.

The fascination with the feelings of love and the coinciding awareness and fear that this might not last forever make this song incredibly bittersweet. Sydney has a rare talent for being able to communicate even the most complicated of feelings and experiences, and it’s a true honor to be able to experience her music.

“You make me feel like life is something I can keep pursuing / Something I can keep on doing…”

Nikita Lev – ‘Elegance’

When we tell you there was a collective gasp around THP HQ when we heard this song for the first time… we’re telling the absolute truth. You know you have an absolutely stunning track when it causes a visceral reaction from multiple people, and that’s exactly what Nikita has done. From the first piano note to her beautifully light yet powerful vocals, ‘Elegance’ is a song that makes you feel like you can fly.

‘Elegance’ walks us through looking back and reliving your life from childhood to adulthood. Nikita makes the point that we need to soak up the experience of life and growing up and not get caught up in the mundane of it all; we should experience the human experience to its fullest extent.

Not only is this the start of new music in 2023, but we also need to highlight that ‘Elegance’ is her debut single… Artists who were put on this earth to create music are hard to come by, but Nikita is a true musical force to be reckoned with, and we’re incredibly excited to see what 2023 holds.

“With age, I don’t know why / Still I don’t want to cry about impending things / Promises on diamond rings…”

Written solely by DAMOYEE and produced by her and SCayos, this is overtly a very personal and vulnerable experience. This song and everything within it is incredibly relatable and it’s heartwarming to have DAMOYEE’s soft voice lead you through this journey, hopeful to come out the other side. Hearing these experiences and emotions verbalized by such a soft voice makes processing them personally, a whole lot easier, and we have DAMOYEE to thank for that.

Artists like DAMOYEE make life a lot more enjoyable and just that little bit easier.

“Through every attempt / successfully you dilute me of my past / And I’ll always know that you think we will last…”

Delacey – ‘One Mississippi’

True songwriters are able to share even the most vulnerable emotions with the world through their lyricism and music, and that’s exactly what Delacey has done. With accreditations that include writing credits on Justin Bieber’s GRAMMY-nominated Justice album, Delacey was bound to create a track riddled with storytelling and stunning imagery.

We [Delacey and her co-writer] decided to tie in the idea of “keeping count” as a way of describing how slow the minutes pass for me when I’m feeling anxious about a disconnect in my relationship. I usually need distractions of any kind. I suppose writing the song was one of them.

Delacey on ‘One Mississippi’

This track walks us through the ever-so-relatable experience of a rift within a relationship and having to keep going every day knowing there’s space between you and the other half of your existence.

“One Mississippi / Two Mississippi / I keep count, it keeps me busy / You’re not with me / I’m so tipsy / swear to God that you still miss me back…”
