Reasons why ‘Just Don’t Know It Yet’ Marks New Hope Club’s Musical Evolution.

Since New Hope Club entered the scene in 2015, they’ve grown an extensive discography and a devoted global fanbase. The three piece band consisting of Reece, George, and Blake have gone from playing local pubs in Manchester to headlining shows across the world. Additionally, they have already amassed an impressive 2.5 billion global streams and 260 million YouTube views. From their first EP released in 2017, to their first self-titled album in 2020, their growth has been inspiring. The guys have matured personally and this has transitioned into their music. That’s why we’re presenting reasons why ‘Just don’t know it yet’ marks New Hope Club’s musical evolution.

Timeless Lyricism

The trends may be about romanticizing life, but New Hope Club has given us a timeless song about romanticizing a future with a lover. Within the song, the boys reminisce about firsts and claim lasts. At this point in their career, we have been blessed to hear them sing and share a lot of stories. ‘Medicine?’ Yep, that’s their song! Prefer some fun KPOP? Lucky for you they’ve recently covered ‘Cupid’ by FIFTY FIFTY. Maybe your taste falls in the later decades? They’ve got plenty of Beatles covers. Seriously, they’ve sung about it all and hit many different genres.

Storytelling

In comparison to their previous songs, ‘Just don’t know it yet’ digs the deepest into storytelling. Written by the boys of New Hope Club, Toby Gad and Fraser Churchill, the lyricism marks their musical revolution due to their emotional maturity. It’s the story of a lover’s first encounter beginning with an “ordinary conversation caught me by surprise” to the very end where there’s “a house on a hill, with our names written on a bell.”

The Music Video

We felt extremely complete when watching the ‘Just don’t know it yet’ music video. From the opening scene where we see a playful side of New Hope Club, we are already met with a lightness. Within the video the boys hone in on their routes with the Union Jack flag present and show their professionalism and fun side posing for a photoshoot. Everyone is smiling in the video, the boys, the staff and us watching along. We feel less like we’re observing a carefully crafted scene and more like we’re watching our friends. Whilst we’re often used to the fun side of New Hope Club, their previous music videos have been very bright and fast-paced. As day falls into night within the ‘Just don’t know it yet’ music video we visually see their musical evolution. Sometimes less is more and we felt more emotion watching along.

The Stripped Back Ballad

New Hope Club show their musical evolution by presenting their vocal ability at its very finest. From the soft tones within the verses to the beautiful backing harmonies. Blake, George, and Reece all come together to deliver a raw sound. This new release completely contrasts their rockier release ‘L.U.S.H.’ and gives fans the opportunity to indulge in their vocal and songwriting abilities. Looking back through their musical collection, they provide dance-pop tracks like ‘Know me too well’ or one-man-focused ballads like ‘Don’t go wasting time.’ That’s why ‘Just don’t know it yet’ reflects a refreshing side to the boys and marks their musical evolution that is heartwarming to listen to.
