Stray Kids‘ Lee Know has always had an irreplaceable and versatile tone in his voice, with this rap, lower register, and falsetto that never fails to blow us away. From day one, he’s been an amazing vocalist, and still, we’ve seen him grow tremendously. From blowing us away with his emotional voice in songs like ‘Secret Secret’ or ‘Lost Me,’ and owning the stage with every performance of ‘Hall Of Fame‘ with its impactful and powerful voice, Lee Know adds something so magical and unique to Stray Kids’ music. We could listen to Lee Know’s vocals forever, and that’s why we’re here to tell you about our absolute favorite moments where his vocals and unique tone shined the brightest.
His First Solo Song: ‘Limbo’ (SKZ-Replay, 2022)
‘Limbo‘ is a special song to Lee Know, and it’s not just because it is an absolute masterpiece. This song was also Lee Know’s first solo song ever, and there is no better song to showcase both the softness and the power in his voice. The emotion behind his voice, the belting notes… Everything is top-tier. ‘Limbo’ became even more special when Lee Know performed it on his solo stage during the 5-STAR Dome Tour. And this is not an easy song to sing, yet he blew us away every night. It created a magical moment between him and the public as he delivered some of the most beautiful performances ever with just him and his vocals.
‘Waiting For Us’ (ODDINARY, 2022)
ODDINARY gave us two very iconic unit songs: ‘Muddy Water‘ and ‘Waiting For Us.’ ‘Waiting For Us‘ is a pop-rock ballad full of beautiful and emotional moments, both in its lyrics and vocals. Lee Know’s parts on this song are everything to us. The transition he sings right before the big chorus just shows how pretty his tone is in every tone and how much control and versatility he has in his voice. The live performance made the song even more meaningful, and it got better every time Lee Know belted his lines before the outro – it never fails to tug at our heartstrings and blow us away.
‘Taste’ (MAXIDENT, 2022)
And talking about unit songs… ‘Taste’ cannot be missing from any list of any kind when talking about Lee Know’s skills. This MAXIDENT b-side is everything in so many ways. It’s a masterpiece, and we could go on about it for ages. But when it comes to Lee Know specifically, ‘Taste‘ is truly one of those songs that showcase both his incredibly luring and addictive lower tone, as well as his beautiful and irreplaceable falsetto and his intense chest voice. Truly, the way Lee Know sings this chorus has never left our heads since the song came out. Everything we love about Lee Know’s vocals is in ‘Taste.’ On top of that, the way he performs this song is really something else.
His Cover Of Sam Fisher’s ‘This City’
So many amazing things came out of the Maniac Tour, including the ‘Charmer‘ performance (the way Lee Know owned that final break dance is a conversation for another day, though) and, of course, the unit ments where they would cover songs, or sing some of their SKZ-Replay songs. In the case of Lee Know, he delivered several unforgettable covers like ‘Falling’ by Harry Styles. But the one that has stuck the most to us is how he fits perfectly Sam Fisher’s ‘This City.’ Lee Know portrayed the emotions behind the song beautifully and blew us away with his perfect, controlled switch between chest voice and falsetto. We shouldn’t be surprised at this point, but Lee Know truly never fails to amaze us. (And lowkey, very highkey, need a full cover.)
‘Cover Me’ (ROCK-STAR, 2023)
‘Cover Me‘ is hands down one of Stray Kids’ best ballads ever made. Not many songs come even near this one. And it’s a ballad that allowed Lee Know to shine with his vocals even brighter than before. The last chorus never fails to make us feel like we’re levitating with Seungmin and Bang Chan‘s high notes, only to give way to Lee Know singing the chorus in the most gutwrenching, emotional, and captivating way. As the music stops for only a moment, the power and intensity of Lee Know’s vocals hit harder than ever before. Lee Know truly had the perfect voice and tone for this crucial moment in the song. And that hidden ad-lib feels like the cherry on top. ‘Cover Me‘ is a masterpiece in so many ways, and one of those ways is how Lee Know sings it.
His First SKZ-Record: ‘Leave Me Or Love Me’
We’ve talked about Lee Know’s first solo song and his covers, but let’s talk about the day we finally got a solo SKZ-Record from him. The choice of DAY6‘s ‘Love Me or Leave Me’ was genius. There are no words to explain how perfectly this song fits Lee Know’s voice. ‘Love Me or Leave Me’ is a song full of mixed feelings, resentment, and love, and Lee Know captured all of that with his voice. He embodied this masterpiece of a song in a way not many could – and many have tried. Lee Know‘s cover of ‘Love Me or Leave Me’ made the wait more than worth it.
His dominATE Solo Stage: ‘Youth’
For his 5-STAR Dome Tour stage, Lee Know gave us a beautiful performance where it was only him, a microphone, his gorgeous voice, and the masterpiece that is ‘Limbo.’ However, for the dominATE Tour, Lee Know took another approach and reunited two of the best things about him: his versatile voice and his amazing dancing skills. The ‘Youth’ stage is the perfect embodiment of Lee Know‘s softer side, but also of his skills as an idol – his dancing, his singing, and his stage presence. Adding these things together make the perfect example of Lee Know‘s talent and how powerful his vocals match his performance skills. ‘Youth’ is simply the perfect Lee Know stage.
His Episode On Lee Mujin’s Service
If we talk about Lee Know’s vocals, of course we need to talk about his episode in Lee Mujin’s Service. There are so many things to highlight about this episode. Starting with his solo rendition of ‘Twilight.’ His voice is already so fitting to the song, but this rendition is on another level with his delicate and pretty vocals. Lee Know is also known to own the songs he covers, but something shifts in the air any time he sings a song from a previous generation – and that’s exactly what happens here, especially when he covers Boa’s ‘The Only One.’ Whether he’s on stage giving his all to the performance or it’s all about the vocals, Lee Know always gives an unforgettable and powerful performance, and we could listen to him sing for ages.
