You all know that we are massive fans of Waterparks over here at THP HQ! We had the chance to attend the Houston show on their A NIGHT OUT ON EARTH TOUR and they did not disappoint. The hometown shows are always a vibe and all of the family, friends, and OG fans come out. As a longtime fan of Waterparks, the hometown shows are always our favorite. We get to see old friends and jam out to our favorite band. Even when we move away, we will still show up to every Houston show.
Phem opened up the show and was incredible! We knew some of her songs but had never seen her live and she did not disappoint! We left a huge fan and immediately went to add ‘Silly Putty’ to all of our playlists. Not only did she bring out Tyler Posey for ‘Shut Up,’ but he stayed and played guitar for a few songs. It was a nice surprise getting to hear the song live!
After Phem’s incredible set, Waterparks was up. They opened with ‘Greatest Hits’ with only Otto and Geoff on stage and Awsten came out during ‘Numb.’ The show was incredible and had high energy. ‘Watch What Happens Next’ and ‘Fuzzy’ were definitely crowd favorites. During the show, they got the crowd to sing out the ‘Group Chat’ interlude and even spent some time getting one of the guys in the crowd to record some backing vocals for an audience track. Anyone who was watching the live stream was likely very confused, but that’s a Waterparks show for you!
After singing ‘You’d Be Paranoid Too (If Everyone Was Out To Get You),’ the band left the stage. But it wasn’t the end! They came back out to play three high-energy tracks: ‘Turbulent,‘ ‘Snow Globe,’ and ‘See You In In The Future!’ The track is actually called ‘See You In The Future,’ but Awsten saw on Twitter that a fan’s tattoo artist messed up their tattoo, so he changed the song title on Spotify to match it. How iconic is that?
Even though Waterparks played all of our favorite songs, we wish the show could have gone on longer. But not to fret, there are still a few shows left! If you live in Phoenix, San Diego, or Los Angeles, you definitely need to get out and see the tour. You seriously won’t regret it!
