7 Of Our Favorite Friendships In Pop

7 Of Our Favorite Friendships In Pop

One of the most fun things in fandom is when your fave interacts with, well, another one of your faves. Whether it’s hanging backstage, going on vacation, or working in the studio together, we simply love to see it. Not only is it great to see talented people support each other in what can be a pretty cutthroat industry, but it also helps us cling on to those pipe dream collabs… please, Hizzo, please. So here are some of our favorite friendships in pop music!

Taylena (Taylor Swift & Selena Gomez)

Friends since 2008, when they were each dating a Jonas brother, Taylena is one of the most iconic celeb friendships ever. The pair have constantly supported each other’s careers (and posted adorable selfies) for over a decade. As Taylor once said“Longevity is something you really can find very precious and rare in friendships.” The two keep the majority of their friendship private but can often be seen dancing together at award shows, plus we can’t forget when Selena starred as Taylor’s arch-nemesis in the music video for ‘Bad Blood.’

V (Kim Taehyung) & Park Jimin (BTS)

All of the Bangtan friendships are iconic in their own way, but there’s something extraordinary about the ‘95 liners. Friends since 2011 when they both moved to Seoul as trainees, the two have been by one another’s side through high school, debut, fame, and, of course, The Bandu Incident.

Last year, Jimin himself summed it up better than we ever could, when he wrote ‘Friends’ for BTS’ album Map Of The Soul:7, a duet with V all about their connection; “You are my soulmate”… ok well now we’re crying.

Hizzo (Harry Styles & Lizzo)

Hizzo is one of the more recent friendships in this list, but that doesn’t make it any less iconic. It all began publicly when Harry covered ‘Juice’ in the BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge, which recently won Best Cover at the iHeartRadio Music Awards. Then Lizzo returned the favor a couple of months later with ‘Adore You,’ and they performed together at Lizzo’s show in Miami (thank you universe for sweater vest Harry). At The Honey Pop, our favorite Hizzo moment has to be the absolute chaos of the 2020 BRIT Awards: spilling drinks, holding hands, and getting Jack Whitehall drunk on tequila. No wonder they’re one of our favorite pop music friendships.

Ariana Grande & Victoria Monét

Ariana Grande and her long-time collaborator and best friend have been through thick and thin. An insanely talented artist in her own right, Victoria has also co-written some of Ari’s biggest hits, including ‘Let Me Love You’ and ‘34+35.’ They’re a cute pair who always have each other’s back – Victoria was one of the co-writers and music video stars of both ‘Thank U, Next’ and ‘7 rings,’ and was one of the recipients of the titular rings from that infamous post-break-up shopping trip. Plus, we’re lucky enough that the pair have duetted twice; on ‘Got Her Own’ from the Charlie’s Angels soundtrack and ‘MONOPOLY,’ which has a super cute and candid music video of the two goofing around on a rooftop.

Machine Gun Kelly & Yungblud

Machine Gun Kelly and Yungblud are some of the very best at combining musical influences, as seen in their distinct abilities to mix pop-punk and hip-hop, so for them to have each other’s support and bounce ideas off of must be a dream come true. The pair have worked together a few times now, and our favorite has to be the absolute anthem ‘acting like that’ from Yungblud’s 2020 album weird!. Their collaborations also mean that we’re lucky enough to have videos of them interviewing each other with some super funny moments. What we wouldn’t give to go to a party with these two…

Halsey & BTS

First meeting backstage at the 2017 BBMAs, Halsey & BTS is a pop friendship straight from heaven. Ever since, Halsey has been a proud supporter of Bangtan and has publicly defended them in the face of xenophobic comments, as well as celebrating all their achievements. Then, of course, came 2019’s smash hit collaboration ‘Boy With Luv.’ The song broke the record for the most-viewed 24-hour debuted music video on YouTube with 74.6 million (the current record is BTS’ ‘Butter’ with 108 million) and became the highest-charting K-pop group song of all time on the Billboard Hot 100 at number 8 (BTS have since scored 4 number ones).

Before their first-ever live performance of ‘Boy With Luv,’ Halsey gifted each BTS member with a pink diamond friendship bracelet. The collaboration opened doors for both Halsey and BTS, and they continue to show love and support for one another. So… second collab, anyone?

Niall Horan & Lewis Capaldi

These fellas first became friends after Niall’s cousin showed him a video of Lewis singing. Niall then invited him to the Flicker Tour in Glasgow, and the rest is history. They regularly support and make fun of each other on social media and had even announced a tour together that had to be canceled due to COVID-19. On the bright side, though, Niall has confirmed that he and Lewis have written a “very good” song together, so here’s to praying we are blessed with that Liall collab soon.

It really is so cool to see so much love, and fun, within the pop industry! We love seeing our faves stanning our other faves. In conclusion, us reading about all these friendships:
