Bang Chan is behind Stray Kids‘ iconic and unforgettable songs. Not only is he one of the masterminds that puts these songs together, but he also brings something unique, new, and impactful to every single one of their songs. Whether it’s his witty and beautiful songwriting, his incredible vocal tone, or his rapping skills, Chan always manages to bring something so special to every Stray Kids song. And here are some of his parts that elevate the songs to beyond iconic!
‘District 9’ (I am NOT, 2018)
We cannot talk about iconic Bang Chan parts without mentioning what started it all (technically). After the release of their pre-debut Mixtape, I am NOT is what officially introduced Stray Kids to the world with the title track ‘District 9.’ This entire song and era are beyond iconic, but ‘District 9‘ wouldn’t possibly be as iconic as it is without Bang Chan – and no, it’s not just because he wrote the song. ‘District 9’ has such a bang of a chorus that it all starts with Bang Chan’s striking and powerful vocals. We couldn’t possibly think of a better person to lead this title track. It all falls perfectly into place with Bang Chan‘s voice to center everything.
‘Maze Of Memories’ (CLé 1: MIROH, 2019)
The thing about Bang Chan is that he’s an incredible vocalist, a fantastic songwriter, an unforgettable performer, and a mind-blowing rapper. There are so many of his raps that we could list down as his most iconic parts (and more on that later), but we cannot miss ‘Maze of Memories.’ The song is already wild with all the different verses, flows, switches, and turns. And the last turn is the English part, featuring Felix, Seungmin, and, of course, Bang Chan. He absolutely snaps in this verse. The flow is so unique and addictive, and it is underrated just how hard it is to own such a flow. His verse is so good that every time, it makes us want to replay the song all over again. ‘Maze of Memories,’ you will always be iconic to us.
‘The Tortoise and The Hare’ (IN LIFE, 2020)
If we talk about Bang Chan‘s rapping, we cannot skip his verse in ‘The Tortoise and The Hare.’ Everything about this song is already unique, iconic, and witty in every sense, as Stray Kids retell the famous fable and do so through genius producing and writing. Bang Chan‘s “lazy” rap style adds so much attitude, depth, and effect to the story – and it’s one of the best things that has ever happened to us.
‘HEYDAY (Prod. Czaer)’ (2022)
‘HEYDAY’ is technically not a Stray Kids song, but you’ll have to give us a pass because of how iconic Bang Chan’s chorus is. So many elements of ‘HEYDAY‘ make it such an addictive song, but we cannot even begin to talk about that song without mentioning Bang Chan’s parts. His flow in the chorus makes the song so catchy and an instant banger. The lyrics are full of wit, personality, and the unique aura that Bang Chan has when it comes to his parts. It gets stuck in your head in the best way possible, and that’s just how much power he holds.
‘Case 143’ (MAXIDENT, 2022)
‘Case 143‘ is like no other song in Stray Kids‘ discography. Their unique take on a love song remains one of Stray Kids’ most genius moments. One thing that makes this song so fun and unique is the witty play on words—the most iconic one being in Bang Chan’s verse. The start of the second verse is so addictive and catchy, and paired up with such an iconic choreography moment, it makes Bang Chan‘s part unforgettable. It is soft, fun, joyful and such a gem in the song.
‘3RACHA’ (MAXIDENT, 2022)
Out of the same mini-album, Stray Kids came out with sub-unit songs, one more iconic than the other, and 3RACHA released their self-titled song. Bang Chan has the last verse of the three, and let us tell you, this went viral for a good reason. He begins his verse in such an impactful way that it makes us stop everything we’re doing every time the song comes on. Not only is his verse full of love for the team, and you can feel how proud he is to be part of it, but the verse also goes hard. It is impossible to pick one favorite line out of the verse, and of course we can’t forget about the outro either. Everything about this song is glorious.
‘Hall of Fame’ (5-STAR, 2023)
The day that Stray Kids performed ‘Hall of Fame‘ at their 5-STAR Dome Tour changed the chemistry of our brains forever. The song was already a banger and arguably one of Stray Kids’ best songs ever, but the performance took it to a whole other level. And indeed, while Bang Chan‘s part in the first chorus was already so impactful and unforgettable, it wasn’t even near as iconic as it would become with the choreography. The way he comes to the middle, the hand movement in the performance, the low voice… It’s all just incredible and such a moment.
‘I Like It’ (ATE, 2024)
‘I Like It‘ is one of Stray Kids‘ most addictive songs, and there’s no denying it. It has a chorus that never leaves your mind and an intro that scratches the right side of your brain. The thing about that melody is that it comes back in the second chorus, and it’s for Bang Chan‘s part. The lyrics roll off the tongue in such a perfect, natural, satisfying, and addictive way. It embodies the playful message of the song while giving pop melody perfection. Add that to his gripping tone and the unique aura he gives to the verse, and you get nothing short of one of the most iconic moments of the song – which says a lot with a song like ‘I Like It‘ in which every part feels so essential and iconic on its own. Bang Chan’s part in ‘I Like It’ simply lives rent free in our minds.
