Since last year, Stray Kids have been on their biggest tour yet: the dominATE World Tour. The tour kicked off in Asia last year, and it took them to Oceania. After finishing the Asian leg of the tour, Stray Kids are now about to kick off their Latin American leg, followed by North America and then Europe. But all of this isn’t happening before giving us new music – it’s Stray Kids, after all.
Just a few days before their 7th anniversary, Stray Kids revealed a new Mixtape as a gift and as another piece of the tour. They released the Korean version of their 2024 Japanese title track, ‘GIANT,’ and brand new unit songs set to be added to the dominATE Wold Tour. And here’s how each one of them is gonna be the perfect addition to the setlist!
‘Burnin’ Tires’ (Changbin & I.N)
‘Burnin’ Tires’ is peak power and fun mixed together. The song raises the energy to the roof with its fast beat and punk-rock energy. The versatility I.N proves once again is one of the best parts of this release. After giving his unique tone to Stray Kids’ most vocally challenging songs, he got ready to tackle and write his own rap verse in ‘Burnin’ Tires.’ With one of Changbin‘s most fast and witty rap yet, the song feels perfect. ‘Burnin’ Tires’ is everything you would expect from this duo; it’s playful yet confident and loud, and the music video showcases just that. If anything, the music video makes the song even more powerful. It is one of those songs that gets better with every listen and will never leave your mind.
‘Truman’ (Han & Felix)
Several releases in Stray Kids‘ discography led to this exact moment. If you could picture a mixture of ‘REV IT UP‘ and ‘Muddy Water,’ with ‘Bounce Back‘ and ‘I GOT IT,’ then you will see exactly the vision behind ‘Truman.’ With Felix‘s low and impactful voice and Han‘s unique and mindblowing flow, ‘Truman’ is more than a highlight in this mixtape; rather, it is an entire reset of our brains. ‘Truman’ is witty, bold, loud and serves us some of the best, most satisfying rap verses in Stray Kids‘ discography. We knew the duo of Han and Felix would give something unique and unforgettable, and that’s exactly what ‘Truman’ is – yet so much more. The soft beginning with a darker tone only leads to an explosion of confidence, flex, and energy only Han and Felix hold.
‘ESCAPE’ (Bang Chan & Hyunjin)
It’s been nearly four years since the release of ‘Red Lights‘ as part of the NOEASY album, and our lives have never been the same. The iconic song took the world by storm with its seductive sound to the point that Stray Kids included an OT8 stage in their Maniac Tour setlist. And now, Bang Chan and Hyunjin come together again for a unit song: ‘ESCAPE.’ This song has everything we love about ‘Red Lights’ but cranked up to a whole other level. While ‘Red Lights’ is about obsession overtaking you, ‘ESCAPE’ is about using your love to escape reality. The guitar is heavy and infectious, and the vocals are incredible. Both Hyunjin and especially Bang Chan get to showcase their vocals in a way they’ve never had the chance before. ‘ESCAPE’ is intense and addictive, and it hits hard. Every detail behind ‘ESCAPE’ makes it an absolute masterpiece. Bang Chan and Hyunjin also teamed up with Novvkim once again to direct the music video, which serves as a second part of ‘Red Lights’ – and yes, that entire experience is one of their best music videos.
‘CINEMA’ (Lee Know & Seungmin)
‘CINEMA’ is a beautiful ending to this Mixtape. We knew that Seungmin‘s honey voice and Lee Know‘s powerful vocals together would give us one of Stray Kids‘ most impactful ballads, and indeed. ‘CINEMA’ is a soft yet grand band song where Lee Know and Seungmin shine as they sing about their journey. It’s a song that is made to be played in stadiums. ‘CINEMA’ has a beautiful musical build-up with the analogy of their journey in Stray Kids as a movie. The song hits even harder, knowing Lee Know and Seungmin were each other’s first friends in the company. The music video takes them to a post-apocalyptic world where the only thing they end up needing is each other and music. ‘CINEMA’ is not about the end, but the journey.
