We’re Off To Space With These Iconic Music Videos

It’s no secret that space is, and always has been, a popular topic. Whether it’s our favorite Marvel heroes in space or the Star Wars franchise, we love seeing outer space on the big screen. Not to mention trends such as galaxy print, NASA merch, and astronomy obsessions constantly being around. We get excited when our faves release a space-themed music video, so we just had to make this list of our favorites!

‘Get Into It (Yuh)’ – Doja Cat

With an album called Planet Her, we’ve been waiting for Doja Cat to release her own space-themed music video, and she did not disappoint. Her new video for ‘Get Into It (Yuh)’ follows Doja flying through space when she gets a video call from an alien who is holding her cat for ransom. She and her team go to rescue her cat, fighting off the aliens, then she returns to her ship for a well-deserved drink. Honestly, this video is exactly what we expected from Doja, and we can’t get enough!

‘Break Free’ – Ariana Grande Ft. Zedd

We couldn’t possibly make this list without including Ariana Grande. From her space tattoos to her space-themed music videos, to her song ‘NASA,’ we’ve got no doubt, Ariana is the queen of space. The beginning of her video for ‘Break Free’ looks like something straight out of a Star Wars movie. We then get to see Ariana clad in chrome, battling aliens, floating around in a spaceship, and finally having a dance party with some aliens she saved. This is a light, entertaining music video that doesn’t take itself too seriously, and we love every second of it.

‘Rocket Man’ – Elton John

When we mention music and space, Elton John‘s ‘Rocket Man’ is one of the first songs to come to mind. A few years ago, Elton teamed up with Youtube to release an animated video for this song. The music video follows a man leaving his home and family to go to space. We see this man float around space and explore different planets, all while dreaming about reuniting with his family. The animation on the video is pretty unique, resembling sketches in a book, and the video fits the lyrics of the song so well.

‘Oops!… I Did It Again’ – Britney Spears

We all know that Britney Spears is known to have some of the most iconic music videos, and this one is no exception. The ‘Oops!… I Did It Again‘ video sees Britney dressed in red spandex, landing on Mars accompanied by a group of backup dancers. An astronaut who had been on Mars and watched her the whole time approaches Britney and gives her the necklace from Titanic, which he explains he swam to the bottom of the ocean to find for her. There isn’t much action in this video other than dancing, but it’s still a cute space-themed music video.

‘Drag Me Down’ – One Direction

Come on, you all knew we’d have to include One Direction in this article – it just wouldn’t feel right to exclude them. The ‘Drag Me Down’ video sees Niall, Louis, Liam, and Harry at the NASA space station getting ready for a trip to space. We see the guys practicing flying the ship, playing around with the robots in the station, and even “flying” before finally boarding the ship and flying off into space. This is definitely one of the most iconic One Direction music videos, and fans even rushed out to buy the rainbow mug Harry uses in the video.

‘E.T.’ – Katy Perry Ft. Kanye West

It’s been ten years, and we still remember every word of Katy Perry‘s ‘E.T.’ This music video matches the song just as you’d expect. It shows Katy floating around in space until she begins to turn into an alien. Her appearance keeps changing throughout the video, as she takes on different forms while searching for her alien lover, who appears to be stuck in a robot. Kanye can also be seen throughout the video floating around in a spaceship.

‘I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing’ – Aerosmith

Aerosmith‘s iconic song ‘I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing’ was released as part of the soundtrack for the movie Armageddon, so it makes sense that its music video would have some space themes. The music video starts off with a quick look into space. As the video goes on, it switches between clips of the band performing the song and clips from the movie. We love that this video incorporated both the band and the movie, and it’s one we’ll keep watching for a long time.

‘My Universe’ – Coldplay Ft. BTS

This is another favorite here at THP – we just knew from the title upon release that it had to have a space-themed music video. And when this video was released, we were over the moon excited. The ‘My Universe‘ music video sees BTS, Coldplay, and a third alien band, all performing the song from different planets, even though music is banned. Each planet is sent holograms of the other two bands by DJ Lafrique so that they’re performing together on all three planets. This concept reminded us of Julie and the Phantoms, and we can’t get enough of it.

We love all of these videos and how they all managed to have different concepts. Which of these space-themed music videos is your favorite? Let us know in the comments or over on our Facebook or Twitter @TheHoneyPop!
