There are many things about a release that make it go as viral as some K-Pop songs do. It’s about the sound, the melodies, the choreography, but also, of course, the music video. 2024 was no stranger to some of the most iconic music videos we’ve ever had in K-Pop. So, take a trip with us through the different music videos throughout the year that made 2024 as iconic as it was for K-Pop!
ITZY – ‘BORN TO BE’
Now, yes, we’re starting the list with a bit of a cheat. The music video for ‘BORN TO BE‘ was released mids-December 2023, sure, but the song wasn’t up on streaming platforms until the release of ITZY‘s full-length album and set the bar for the beginning of what would be an incredible year for K-Pop music. This music video focused solely on ITZY’s dancing skills, insane stage presence, and talent as performers. No one goes as hard as ITZY, and ‘BORN TO BE‘ took it to another level. It was truly the standard for any choreography and performance video for the entirety of 2024.

(G)I-DLE – ‘Wife’
(G)I-DLE started the year with a bang. We could honestly add both ‘Super Lady‘ and ‘Wife‘ to the list with how much they were everywhere. But ultimately, there is no way those bobs don’t go down in history as one of the most fun, iconic moments in K-Pop. The unserious, ironic tone with the actual deep message (G)I-DLE wanted to portray was all tied together by a simple yet unforgettable music video. The choreography, the catchy lyrics, and, of course, the bobs, it was meant to go down in history.

SEVENTEEN – ‘MAESTRO’
SEVENTEEN is one of those groups that, just like for the last couple of years, have been killing it all year. Every release skyrocketed them further and they were all over our timelines and fyps. However, if we have to give the crown to one of those releases, it has to be ‘MAESTRO.’ They came out with such a genius take on the concept of controlling robots and mixed it up with EDM and classical music. And, well, there was no way to get away from that bridge breakdance, too (and we played it on a loop every time we saw it.)

ZEROBASEONE – ‘Feel The Pop’
‘GOOD SO BAD‘ will always have our hearts when it comes to ZEROBASEONE‘s music videos, but if we’re looking at which one was more iconic… ‘Feel The Pop‘ is a no-brainer. The clash between the cowboy costumes in all black and the cheerful and bright sound of the song changed everyone’s brain chemistry. Everything ZEROBASEONE has done, even before their debut, has been iconic, but ‘Feel The Pop’ was really a moment in 2024.

aespa – ‘Supernova’
If we’re going to talk about iconic, the song of the year (literally) can’t be missed from the list. This year has been absolutely owned by aespa – they went viral with their every move. The choreography for ‘Armageddon‘ lives rent-free in our minds, and the catwalk concept of ‘Whiplash‘ was everything. While we could use both of those music videos, it all comes down to ‘Supernova.’ The styling, the editing, everything about this is unique and irreplaceable. Truly the song of the year.

RM – ‘LOST!’
BTS’ RM gave us one of the most artistically interesting albums of the year, as he always does (but he never ceases to blow us away.) And that artistry and vision translated into his music videos. The entire trilogy is a masterpiece, but the cinematography and images in ‘LOST!‘ are unforgettable. He brought something new and unique to the song to accompany such a beautiful album. There are so many things about this music video to admire, from the different interpretations and meanings to the gorgeous images. ‘LOST!‘ is genuinely one of a kind.

ARTMS – ‘Virtual Angel’
ARTMS had one of the best rollouts of the year as they led to their first release as a five-member group. Apart from the unit and solo debuts, we also got pre-releases showcasing a very special vision. And it all led to the beauty that was ‘Virtual Angel.’ In our corner of the internet, this was in everyone’s minds with how good the song was and how the music video embodied their concept in such a perfect and satisfactory way. ARTMS made a big mark with just one release.
And while the editing was a big part of the vision, it is also important to note that it contains flashing scenes that may cause discomfort, seizures, epilepsy, and similar symptoms. Just in case, you can watch the “Human Eye Version” here.

ATEEZ – ‘WORK’
Something about ATEEZ is that they’re always going to come out with the most explosive, original, insane, and fun music videos. And ‘WORK‘ is the epitome of all those things together. The chorus alone is iconic, but all the different sets and unserious situations only add to our enjoyment of the song. After all, what’s more entertaining than watching ATEEZ laundering money just for the giggles?

NAYEON – ‘ABCD’
Summer 2024 brought us the comeback of the queen herself, Im Nayeon. After the massive chokehold she had on all of us with ‘POP!,’ the bar was high for what would be next. It took two years, but Nayeon lived up to her name with the way she was all we could think about when ‘ABCD‘ was released. It wasn’t anything like the bubble pop of her solo debut, but it had all her aura as she took on this 2000s hip-hop/pop-inspired song. The different outfits and settings were everything as she embodied different styles and periods of history. And, of course, that part in the choreo after the breakdance will never not be iconic. She put her all into this, and you bet it was worth it.

Red Velvet – ‘Cosmic’
Another group that never fails when it comes to visuals and concepts is, of course, Red Velvet. With a Red Velvet comeback, it was impossible for this music video not to take space in everyone’s brain. Anyone who watched the music video for ‘Cosmic‘ can tell you that it is one of the best of 2024, and they would be right. No one could do a Midsommar concept like Red Velvet. They replicated the movie’s energy so perfectly, all with a banger of a song – didn’t expect any less from them.

LISA – ‘Rockstar’
We may not have gotten a BLACKPINK comeback this year, but the solo content we’ve gotten has been an absolute chef kiss. And the first taste of it was, of course, Lisa’s ‘ROCKSTAR.’ Listen, it’s almost enough just to say that she shut down Bangkok’s busiest street to film this music video to make it impressive. The thing about Lisa is that she never came here to play, and this completely changed the game.

KISS OF LIFE – ‘Sticky’
It’s been a hell of a year for KISS OF LIFE, and it’s all they deserve. ‘Midas Touch‘ could’ve easily made it into our list too, but nothing gets to the level of virality ‘Sticky’ had and the way it defined our summer. Filmed in the streets of Warsaw, Poland, this music video makes it impossible for you to look away with its bright and joyful energy and infectious choreography. So many parts of this video come to mind when listening to the song, like that iconic Natty part, and it being basically one long shot made this music video stand out even more. ‘Sticky’ was our summer.

Stray Kids – ‘Chk Chk Boom’
K-Pop and the MCU officially clashed, and you expected us not to mention it? Because yeah… It’s been over three years since Stray Kids‘ iconic ‘God’s DDU-DU-DDU-DU‘ performance, and somehow, it all led to this day: Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman making a cameo in Stray Kids’ ‘Chk Chk Boom‘ only weeks before the release of Deadpool&Wolverine. That alone makes ‘Chk Chk Boom‘ unforgettable, but it’s far from the only reason. Stray Kids‘ take on more Latino-inspired music shifted the world. They took on the streets of New York and made history with every single element – their wit, outfits (yes, we’re looking at you Hyunjin), and choreography. This was peak Stray Kids, yet fresh and new; no wonder it was everywhere and continues to be to this day.

ENHYPEN – ‘Brought The Heat Back’
Vampire concepts will always be a banger anytime it comes around in K-Pop. It had been a while since we had seen one, but ENHYPEN is keeping the vampire concept alive in 2024 with ‘Brought The Heat Back.’ They didn’t just bring back vampires, but they brought back comedy with it. Their comedic take on the concept made it even more unforgettable, on top of it being a twist on their usual lore. ENHYPEN had the chance to do the funniest thing, and they did.

Jennie – ‘MANTRA’
Lisa isn’t the only BLACKPINK girlie who shook the world this year with a music video. After songs like ‘SOLO‘ and ‘You & Me,’ the expectations for Jennie’s new solo chapter were high. And, of course, she could never disappoint. ‘Mantra‘ was on everyone’s tongue when it came out and it hasn’t left our minds since then. Every set is more iconic than the previous ones, and the choreo – it’s still all we can think about. It is also very important to note how ‘Mantra‘ gave us Blonde Jennie, and for that, we will forever be grateful. Jennie went all out, and it paid off because, with an October release, she still made a huge mark in 2024 as a whole.
