MOA! We’re back again, with another year wrapped up for TOMORROW X TOGETHER. 2024 has been another busy one for TXT, with over 20 new songs released, 33 full concerts, and countless other performances. Not to mention four new variety shows, and so much more.
If you want to be reminded of – or just want to reminisce about – everything TXT has done this year, then stay right where you are! We have everything covered in our latest Music Rewind!
MOA X TOGETHER
TXT kicking off the year with a gift for MOA is just so on-brand, TBH. For their fifth anniversary, TXT held a fancon in Seoul and streamed worldwide. PRESENT X TOGETHER was full of gifts, including covers from each member! There were some new and some old: Yeonjun reprised his version of Taemin’s ‘GUILTY,’ Kai with Avril Lavigne’s ‘Sk8r Boi,’ and Beomgyu played guitar for ADOY’s ‘Wonder.’ As for the brand new covers, Soobin treated us to Rain’s ‘Instead Of Saying Goodbye,’ and our personal favorite was Taehyun’s super slick version of Bruno Mars’ ‘Finesse!’
minisode 3: TOMORROW
This is about the 25th time we’ve spoken about how much we love minisode 3: TOMORROW here at THP, but we’ll happily do it again. This mini album was a true masterpiece, and easily one of their best releases ever. From the searing hope in ‘I’ll See You There Tomorrow’ to the yearning in title track ‘Deja Vu’ to the liberation in ‘Quarter Life Crisis,’ listening to minisode 3: TOMORROW is a cathartic experience. If (somehow?) that emotional intensity wasn’t enough, TXT and minisode 3: TOMORROW also provided us with one of the most delicate and intricate K-Pop concepts in 2024.
The End Of INKIGAYO
Many new eras began for TXT in 2024, but there was another that sadly ended, too! Yeonjun’s two-year run as INKIGAYO MC came to an end just as TOMORROW’s promotions wrapped up. Cue our tears, Yeonjun’s tears, and the tears of all the INKIGAYO staff, too! We, like all MOAs, have absolutely adored watching Yeonjun MC for the last couple of years, from his time with Beomjun and Jeonghui to co-hosting with Jihu and BOYNEXTDOOR’s Woonhak. Our highlight of his reign, obviously, is when he got to celebrate TXT’s first win on the show. Lastly, let’s not forget how INKIGAYO opened up the opportunity for countless Yeonjun TikTok challenges!
First Europe Show
Also just as TXT’s TOMORROW promotion period ended, TXT headed to Antwerp for their first-ever performance in Europe! Whilst TXT had been to Paris for Fashion Week (more on that later) they had never taken to the stage in the continent… until now! European MOAs have been waiting for this moment for so long (yes, we’re crying), and it was a joy to see it finally happen.
ACT: PROMISE
As for 2024 stages: TXT had only just begun. They also embarked on their third world tour! As well as having an absolutely perfect setlist (we mean it. It was literally perfect.), ACT: PROMISE also saw TXT performing for record-breaking audiences. Their U.S. venues included arenas and stadiums, and they became the first-ever K-Pop act to sell out two consecutive nights at Madison Square Garden! In Japan, every ACT: PROMISE show was held at a Dome (roofed stadiums with an average concert capacity of 50,000). This tour was TXT once again proving their global stardom!
CHIKAI
And speaking of TXT in Japan, here comes their Japanese comeback! Conceptually, CHIKAI, which translates to Oath, was a slice of dreamy woodland bliss. Lyrically, TXT once again highlighted their discography and celebrated their bonds with each other. ‘We’ll Never Change’ is beautiful, and that’s before we even mention the choreography, complete with ribbons that reference the ‘red string theory.’ Plus, any tubatu release where we get new Producer Huening Kai, as we do in ‘Kitto Zutto,’ is a huge win in our books.
PPULBATU
Next up is another MOA wish that TXT made come true this year! Fans have been asking for tubatu characters for a long time, and they delivered this summer with PPULBATU. The super cute characters were designed by the members, and honestly, we all guessed who created each character before they even announced it. Whether you’re obsessed with Hwangchoon, Choi Yongmeong, Bamgeut, Dagonyang, or Hhmnyaring, you definitely need to check out all the behind-the-scenes from their creation. Real ones bias Ppulverse though.
First Pitches And PLAY X TOGETHER
Let us throw a curveball (sorry) with our next topic: TXT’s sporting ventures. Our K-Pop and baseball-loving hearts were rewarded this year, with both Yeonjun and Beomgyu throwing the first pitch. Beomgyu for KBO team SSG Landers, and Yeonjun for the CK Monsters, from global hit documentary series, A Clean Sweep.
As well as their work on the baseball mound, TXT brought their special skill sets (competitiveness and chaos) to a very special fan event: PLAY X TOGETHER. In short, it was a sports day for MOA, with the TXT members each leading a team of fans IRL in Seoul, and the whole event was livestreamed globally. If you know anything about TXT (or MOA for that matter) you can imagine how that went down… PLAY X TOGETHER went hugely viral for the sweet, unique opportunity it created for idol-fan interactions, with even other artists like Baekhyun saying they’d love to do something similar with their fans!
GGUM
2024 was really dream-come-true after dream-come-true for MOA, right? In September, just a few days after his 25th birthday, Yeonjun had his solo debut! Mixtape track ‘GGUM’ was a wild success and went supersonic levels of viral. The intense hip-hop track solidified Yeonjun’s It Boy status (as if we needed reminding) and got every K-Pop fan talking. If you managed to get a hold of the limited physical edition of GGUM, then congrats on having the cutest figurine of all time on your bag.
Solo Variety Shows
The sport chat is back, but not for much longer, we promise. Whilst Yeonjun was working on his solo mixtape, the other members of TXT each launched their own solo variety show. Yes, that’s right, four (4) new shows in addition to group program TO DO. We meant it when we said this year was busy!
Beomgyu’s WORKOUT ZZANG
First up is our final mention of sport in this Music Rewind, Beomgyu’s WORKOUT ZZANG. To sum it up briefly, the show sees Beomgyu try to prove he can be the best at a given sport or exercise, with some help from a professional. Cue Beomgyu screaming, arguing, and running away. No, we’re not exaggerating.
Taehyun’s Academy Reincarnation
Academy Reincarnation sees Taehyun attend classes on a variety of careers, and in classic Taehyun fashion, he’s immediately good at 99% of them. From salsa dancing to air stewarding to MMA fighting, get you a man who can do it all, we guess! Well, except for pet grooming for some reason…
Kai’s Huening Kai Wants To Start A Band
Next up is Huening Kai Wants To Start A Band, and honestly, we shouldn’t have to explain the premise of this one. With each episode taking place on a different university campus, we love that this show allows Kai to have a glimpse of another aspect of youth and a path that lots of idols feel that they missed out on. Even better, we get to glimpse more of Kai’s talents on so many musical instruments!
Soobin’s My Faves’ Fave
Last, but certainly not least, leader Soobin launched My Faves’ Fave, a show that features a different guest each episode, where they come on and talk about whatever (or whoever) they’re the biggest fans of. It makes for some legendary interactions, as well as giving new insights into the guest idols. So far, My Faves’ Fave has ranged from ATEEZ’s Wooyoung talking about Harry Potter to ENHYPEN’s Heeseung talking about ramen… truly anything goes!
The Star Chapter: SANCTUARY
Now we’re officially in Autumn, when TXT had their second official comeback of 2024, with mini album The Star Chapter: SANCTUARY. More romantic and pop-focused than its predecessor, SANCTUARY nonetheless felt like an organic step for TXT. The beginning of a new chapter sees TXT’s storyline shift, allowing them to pull from different emotions and embody new personas in their performances. And, as with every TXT comeback, there’s still plenty of genre-switching in this more overtly-pop record. From the reggaeton in ‘Resist’ to the R&B in ‘Forty One Winks,’ this album takes us to ‘Heaven!’
Awards And Achievements
In case you haven’t noticed, we think TXT are pretty cool. Could you tell? Luckily for us, a lot of people seem to agree! 2024 has been another big year for TXT statistically, with a bunch more records broken and awards won. Stateside, TOMORROW and SANCTUARY both entered the top 5 of the Billboard 200! These were TXT’s 10th and 11th entries into the chart, and they now have six consecutive top 5 albums – the only other Korean act to achieve this is BTS. And speaking of Billboard, TXT are also nominated for three BBMAs!
Back at home, TXT have been filling up their trophy cabinet plenty, with four Asia Star Entertainment Awards and two MAMA Awards! At the MAMAs (more on that later), TXT took home the awards for Fan’s Choice – Male and PontaPass Global Favorite Artist. TXT has won Fan’s Choice six years in a row, aka every year since they debuted!
OSTs And Features
The new music isn’t wrapped up yet! Between them, TXT also released two OSTs and a featured collaboration this year! First up was Yeonjun’s ‘Boyfriend’ for Cinderella At 2AM. ‘Boyfriend’ wasn’t what we expected from a Yeonjun solo (little did we know what was coming), but we adored the earnest synth-pop track nonetheless! From Taehyun and Huening Kai, we got ‘Can’t Stop’ for BREWING LOVE. ‘Can’t Stop’ is a dreamy 80s ballad, a perfect match for the maknaes’ powerful vocal styles!
And of course, we can’t forget Yeonjun’s iconic feature on KATSEYE’s ‘Touch (Remix)!’ Yeonjun wrote his verse while on the set of the ‘GGUM’ music video, and it’s a total masterpiece. Each line of his rap is a response to the corresponding line in the original version, so together they read as the conversation that KATSEYE request throughout ‘Touch!’
Fashion And More
The Gen Z It Boys prove their well-earned status by taking over more than just the music industry! TXT has traveled to Paris twice this year for Fashion Week, attending Dior’s AW24 and SS25 shows. On top of their work with Dior, Yeonjun was announced as Moncler’s global ambassador with a special cover for GQ Korea – one of the many iconic magazine shoots TXT has done this year. Beomgyu also expanded their remit further in cosmetics, becoming an ambassador for beauty brand Coral Haze!
Special Stages
Back in their most comfortable spot – on stage – TXT also treated us to plenty of special performances in 2024. During the SANCTUARY promotions, TXT covered Taylor Swift’s ‘Love Story’ and we promptly absolutely lost our minds. Things have gotten even more intense as the end-of-year awards season kicks in; between them, TXT had three performances at the MAMAs! Yeonjun opened the show with ‘GGUM,’ the group performed ‘Deja Vu’ and ‘Over The Moon’ and, perhaps most excitingly, the debut of TOENZE. A group created specifically for the MAMAs, consisting of Beomgyu, Huening Kai, ENHYPEN’s Jay, and ZEROBASEONE’s Taerae and Yujin, who are all passionate musicians. TOENZE treated us to the band performance of our dreams!
What’s To Come
Phew! We told you this was a busy year! It’s always a total joy to witness TXT’s success, and 2024 was no exception. As the year winds down, we still have a few more awards shows, and then TXT will begin 2025 by taking a very, very well-earned break. We hope they get all the rest and relaxation they deserve! In March, TXT will celebrate their sixth anniversary (cue our tears once again) and then head to Mexico for their first-ever performance in the region, co-headlining Axe Ceremonia!
Looking towards later in 2025, we can’t wait to see what the next evolution of The Star Chapter will look (and sound!) like. Plus, TXT has already mentioned that some of them are slowly but surely working on solo music, so maybe we’ll get some more solo debuts, too! For now, though, we will just bask in all the gorgeous content and music we got this year.
To sum it up: TXT’s 2024 filled us with happiness and pride! What was your highlight from this year? Let us know what you think over on Twitter @TheHoneyPOP! Or if that’s not your thing, you can also find us on Facebook and Instagram!
