34 Of TOMORROW X TOGETHER’s Best Lyrics

TOMORROW X TOGETHER is a group known for many things: their synchronization, live performances, and 4th Gen It Boy status. But did you know their lyrics are top-tier, too? Maybe the super long song titles gave it away, but we think you still need to know the finer details! So, we’ve gathered 34 (get it? Like March 4th) of TXT’s best lyrics for you to get stuck into!

Note: Where official translations aren’t available, the translations for Korean and Japanese lyrics are credited to @TranslatingTXT on Twitter.

The Dream Chapter: STAR

“Reality loses its strength, even the world holds its breath, this moment becomes eternity…” – ‘Our Summer’

‘Our Summer’ was part of TXT’s debut album and managed to hold its spot as Soobin’s favorite track for over four years, which, with a discography as rich as theirs, is no small feat. But with lyrics this sweet, who can blame him?

Because I believe in you, even if I’m anxious…” – ‘Nap of a star’

Ask a MOA what they love about TXT’s storytelling abilities, and this song will probably get mentioned pretty quickly. It was basically the catalyst for all of TXT’s lore, and the fact that it came from their debut kinda blows our minds.

“It’s no coincidence, it’s a kitty-incidence…” – ‘Cat & Dog (English Version)’

Ok, stick with us on this one! ‘Cat & Dog’ might be better known for being fun and a bit of a meme, but we think there’s lowkey some lyrical mastery, too. We love a pun, so naturally, we have the utmost respect for anyone who can make them in their second language! “Kitty-incidence” is genius, and we won’t hear otherwise.

The Dream Chapter: MAGIC

“My life caught between strings…” – ‘New Rules’

A tale of rebellion and frustration, this particular ‘New Rules’ lyric immediately conjures up images of marionette puppets. Moreover, ‘New Rules’ feels like the first of many TXT songs that celebrate a defiant youth.

“Please take me now, to the magic named ‘us’…” – ‘Run Away’

‘Run Away’ changed the game for TXT, and for good reason! Magic is a key motif throughout their discography, and “Platform 9 and 3 quarters” is where it all started!

“Will all the dreams become memories?…” – ‘Magic Island’

As well as having one of the most magical music videos in K-Pop, ‘Magic Island’ has enchanting lyricism. Déjà vu runs through the track, and the references to prophecies and dreams make our heads spin.

The Dream Chapter: ETERNITY

“In front of the mirror, I give in again…” – ‘Maze In The Mirror’

Written by all five members before their debut, ‘Maze In The Mirror‘ is an angst-soaked ode to their efforts as trainees. Though most of us don’t know what it’s like to be idols-in-the-making, we can likely all relate to the frustration and exhaustion of working towards your goals.

“How long til I reach my dream?” Only gunshots ring out on that question…” – ‘PUMA’

The bleakness continues… ETERNITY was also the era where TXT began to acknowledge the downsides of fame and celebrity. Criticism, no matter who you are, is hard to take, and TXT shows that in one of their most rap-heavy songs, ‘PUMA.’

“This darkness that swallows the scream, the widening space between us, scribbles that unfold before our eyes wade again through this dream…” – ‘Eternally’

Things took a dark turn, lyrically speaking, for TXT in the ETERNITY era. Better known for its iconic ebb-and-flow production, ‘Eternally’ has equally tumultuous lyricism. It’s bleak but somehow naïve, which perfectly encapsulates the confusion of youth.

“You found me lost and became my salvation…” – ‘Sweat’

Technically not released, ‘Sweat’ has a special place in every MOA’s heart. Finding the hidden track back in the day wasn’t the easiest, but boy, the payoff was worth it. And this line, written by Taehyun, is a stand-out.

“From countless stars in the sky, five stars with five colors gathered here…” – ‘Sweat’

Guess what? We’re not done talking about ‘Sweat’ yet! There are many moments throughout TXT’s discography and music videos where the members are referred to as stars that have found each other in the night sky, but this lyric has to be one of the very best.

minisode1: BLUE HOUR

“I’m looking for signs of a break up in our conversation…” – ‘Ghosting’

THP MOA’s ‘Ghosting’ agenda continues! BLUE HOUR is one of our favorite pieces of art in response to the pandemic, and the opening track exemplifies that. Framing the forced solitude that we all went through as the modern phenomenon of ‘ghosting’ is the crystallized Gen-Z experience.

“The other world at 5:53 is beautiful…” – ‘Blue Hour’

One of TXT’s most beloved title tracks, ‘Blue Hour’ has plenty of lyrics that invoke the vivid colors of this era. The reason we chose this particular line, though, is because it incorporates slight Chinese wordplay so that the lyric can be read either as “this world,” or “other world,” or “special world.”

STILL DREAMING

“Let’s turn these tears into hope, our rainbow-colored days will advance forward…” – ‘Everlasting Shine’

The first lyrics on this list that are from a Japanese release, ‘Everlasting Shine,’ and the idea of tears and rainbows mixing conjures up kaleidoscopes in our minds’ eyes. But more on that kind of imagery later…

The Chaos Chapter: FREEZE

“I know it’s real, I can feel it…” – ‘0x1=LOVESONG (I Know I Love You)’

This might seem like a lazy pick when so many of the lyrics in ‘0x1=LOVESONG’ are so good. But for this one, it’s about the delivery. The rawness and desperation that come through TXT’s, especially Taehyun’s, vocals are phenomenal.

“I’m going to pray for being able to do small evil things…” – ‘Ice Cream’

TXT are so good at sounds-happy-but-is-actually-really-sad tracks, and ‘Ice Cream’ is the number one example. Written by Soobin, the bitterness that seeps through is equal parts hilarious and relatable.

“I just wanna dance, dance until we can’t…” VS. “I don’t wanna dance, dance anymore…” – ‘No Rules’

As well as having one of the most fun choreographies in K-Pop, ‘No Rules’ has a great lyrical arc. With links to ‘New Rules’ from their rookie year, it’s also filled with references to the societal pressures, especially in the workforce, that the youth of today are experiencing.

“Inside the ice that lost light, a sad flower…” – ‘Frost’

Better known for its intense production and that performance video, ‘Frost’ has some great lyricism, too. The juxtapositions are beautiful and have that same mystical style that pops up time and time again in TXT’s work.

The Chaos Chapter: FIGHT OR ESCAPE

“Laugh like you’ve gone mad, goodbye to tears…” – ‘LO$ER=LOVER’

We all know what MOA’s actual favorite ‘LO$ER=LOVER’ lyric is, but stick with us here. This line feels so liberated and free! The undertones of a joyous surrender throughout the track never fail to put us in a good mood.

“They say it’s childish, what? It fits us…” – ‘MOA Diary (Dubaddu Wari Wari)’

One of the cutest fan songs of all time, in this essay we will…

In all seriousness, it might seem childish or cutesy, but what ‘MOA Diary’ actually is is unabashed. TXT are not afraid to celebrate or admire their fans, and guess what? It’s definitely reciprocated! This particular line was written by Soobin, with Beomgyu claiming it as his favorite lyric in the track. We couldn’t agree with him more, TBH.

Chaotic Wonderland

“The thread around my finger that I have been searching for…” – ‘Ito’

Another Japanese single, ‘Ito,’ pulls references to the red string of fate myth. ‘Ito’ literally means ‘thread,’ and the whole song centers around weaving together love. It’s some of the most romantic, dreamlike lyricism in their discography, and we couldn’t love it anymore if we tried.

minisode 2: Thursday’s Child

“I can see it, your ghost that’s smiling at me, the calendar that’s taking a step backwards, it’s driving me crazy…” – ‘Opening Sequence’

Is there a better way to open an album than with a track called ‘Opening Sequence?’ And on top of that, to begin a break-up album with a song that starts at the end of a relationship and rewinds backward? The lyricism in this one is just gorgeous, and let’s not forget it was written by the two maknaes, too.

“I bleed monochrome diamonds instead of blood” – ‘Good Boy Gone Bad’

We’re obviously obsessed with Yeonjun’s rap verse in this track, but this lyric, in particular, is just so good. It’s so desperately painful and reminds us of that lyric we mentioned from ‘Everlasting Shine.’ Where once there were rainbow tears, there’s now only monochrome blood, all thanks to a broken heart.

“Leaving the other half of the star all alone, tell me about the meaning, it isn’t there, it’s just become a scribble with a lost meaning…” – ‘Lonely Boy (Tattoo On My Ring Finger)’

In all honesty, just like in ‘GBGB,’ we’re obsessed with this entire verse, and not just because of how well Yeonjun delivers it live, though that definitely helps. A piece of art, such as a tattoo, becoming nothing more than a scribble is such a potent allegory of a failed relationship.

The Name Chapter: TEMPTATION

“Feast up in the night sky, sweet desire…” – ‘Sugar Rush Ride’

TEMPTATION contains some of TXT’s most evocative (and best!) lyrics yet. In fact, “sweet desire” basically sums up the entire album in a single line.

“Taking me into the dream, the liar on the bedside…” – ‘Sugar Rush Ride’

Dreaming has long been a motif in TXT’s discography, but this era is when they really stepped that up a notch. This idea of being led astray by the “liar on the bedside” is so vivid, especially when you remember that this song follows ‘Devil By The Window’ on the album tracklist. We often say people look ‘pure’ when they’re asleep, so to tempt someone even as they’re in that innocent state is especially corrupt.

“Daze, my tinnitus fills it up, inside the empty noise, feel so lonely…” – ‘Tinnitus (Wanna be a rock)’

No, but seriously? Comparing the reality of life as a celebrity to having tinnitus was a stroke of genius. The endless buzzing and sounds that fill up your mind but mean nothing – it’s the perfect metaphor for unwanted opinions and relentless social media commentary.

“A kiss from the sun that never sleeps…” – ‘Farewell Neverland’

‘Farewell Neverland’ has some of the most dreamy lyricism we’ve ever heard. It’s a turning point, not just as the closer of TEMPTATION but in the lyrical arc of TXT’s catalog overall. Images of the lost boys, Alice in Wonderland, and Icarus are all conjured up instantly.

“That irresponsible paradise of dreams, I’ll bid you my farewell…” – ‘Farewell Neverland’

Our lost boys have accepted their fate, but not without wistful reminiscing first. Yes, they admit it’s “irresponsible,” but that doesn’t mean it’s not “paradise,” too.

The Name Chapter: FREEFALL

“In my kaleidoscope are pressed butterflies, reminding me I only have one life…” – ‘Chasing That Feeling (English Version)’

Both the English and Korean versions of FREEFALL’s title track are so vivid in their imagery. The confusion and intangible delights of a kaleidoscope combined with the fleeting nature of butterflies is a gorgeous image and perfectly illustrates the idea of ‘Chasing That Feeling.’

Life is not a fairytale…” – ‘Happily Ever After’

How is TXT going to have some of the most idealistic, wistful lyricism we’ve heard and then hit us with “Life is not a fairytale” like that? Get you a group who can do it all, we guess? ‘Happily Ever After’ is like the sequel to ‘Ice Cream’ with how silly yet cynical it feels.

“The water that swallowed scars will become calm someday…” – ‘Skipping Stones’

We’ve spoken before about how much we love this lyric – we were drawn to it even on our first listen of FREEFALL – but we’re prepared to talk about it again! The image of scars as rippling water is so beautiful and so reassuring.

“All my youth is filled with your warmth…” – ‘Blue Spring’

Written by all five members, ‘Blue Spring’ has some of our fave tubatu lyrics to date. Dedicated to their fans, who have walked alongside them throughout their late teens and early-mid twenties, the idea of MOA being their warm youth is beyond sweet.

“You said “we’re destiny,” without each other, can’t imagine it…” – ‘Blue Spring’

And we’re not letting go of ‘Blue Spring’ just yet. The fan-artist relationship is a dynamic, complex thing, and though many artists have brought the idea of fate to it, few have done so as directly as “We’re destiny.”
