Tell Us Your Zodiac And We’ll Give You A Rising Star To Add To Your Playlist

If you need a new artist to fall in love with (and who doesn’t?) then you’re in the right place. Here at THP, we love to champion small artists with star power, and this list is particularly galactic. Some of these artists are assigned to their actual zodiac sign, and some we just think match the vibe! Either way, here’s a rising artist to check out for every zodiac, don’t forget to add them to your playlist!

[apple_music_ad artist=”Mae Krell”]

Pisces – Mae Krell

If you like Phoebe Bridgers, you’re gonna love Mae Krell, who has finally released her new EP imposter syndrome. Mae manages to express a lot in just four songs – her lyricism is raw, emotional, and intimate. Whilst there are more upbeat moments on the folk-pop EP, it does sound like it would set the scene really well for a big cry – we see you, Pisces.

Aries – Brooke Scullion

Brooke Scullion has been ready to take over the world ever since she was on The Voice UK in 2020, but now it’s finally happening! The alt-pop rising star will be representing Ireland in this year’s Eurovision with ‘That’s Rich.’ What is especially great about this song is its inspiration: Brooke wrote it whilst reading Debbie Harry’s autobiography. You can definitely hear Blondie’s influence in the song, and we love the rebellious energy – very Aries.

Taurus – Denis Coleman

Taurean, and rising star, Denis Coleman released the music video for ‘Halogen Nights’ earlier this week. The song is an absurdist, supremely intelligent take on party culture and modernity, plus seeing him dabbling in French lyricism is pretty cool too. The music video, set at a dinner party, perfectly compliments Denis’ storytelling, and mocking tone, in the song.

Gemini – Maude Latour

Maude Latour is truly one of the most exciting rising stars in the music industry right now; she reminds us of artists like Lorde and Charli XCX. Her new single ‘Headphones’ is an incredibly catchy alt-pop anthem about self-empowerment and the moments of hope as you realize you’re coming out the other side of a dark time. Plus, the video is just pure fun, as Maude saunters through the streets of New York, one moment the size of a giant and the next as small as the ladybird she’s talking to. If you’re new to Maude, we have some bad news for you – her headline US tour, including two shows at New York’s iconic Bowery Ballroom, sold out in minutes, but keep an eye out!

Cancer – Sea Girls

Sea Girls are back with their new single ‘Lonely’ ahead of the album Homesick, which is set to be released on March 25th. The lyricism is equal parts astute and raw, and whilst we think everybody should have Sea Girls on their playlist, regardless of the zodiac sign, there’s just something about the emotional pull in ‘Lonely’ that makes us think of Cancers. The group is also on the road in Europe and the UK for pretty much all of 2022, doing every kind of venue, from intimate record store shows to headlining Alexandra Palace. Go check them out!

Leo – Kid Bloom

‘Does It Feel Real’ is the perfect Leo track; this song could not feel more like a neon summer evening. LA songwriter and producer Kid Bloom can truly do it all, and you really hear that in this one. The lyrics balance being carefree and brutally honest, but mostly, we just wanna strut down the street like a badass Leo with this on our playlists, even if that’s not our zodiac. If you’re as into Kid Bloom as we are, then you can check him out supporting Bad Suns on their US tour.

Virgo – Zolita

Whilst Zolita herself might be a Libra, we have to give ‘Single In September’ to the majority of September babies. ‘Single In September’ subverts the idea of perfect rom-com endings and summer flings and is the second in a trilogy (umm, hello concept writing!) that began with the viral hit ‘Somebody I F*cked Once.’ Yes, Zolita is an incredible songwriter, but she’s a great storyteller regardless of the medium –  she directs her own brutally honest and very aesthetically pleasing music videos!

Libra – Winona Oak

Libra queen Winona Oak has released the new single ‘Island of the Sun,’ ahead of the debut album we’re now not-so-patiently awaiting later this year. The music video is a piece of glorious cinematography, and if you’re as excited about Winona as we are, you can catch her supporting Oh Wonder on their North American tour!

 Scorpio – Ravive

Scorpios are often associated with everything intense, grungy, and spooky (umm, hello, Halloween?), and what rising star could better fit that than Ravive. Her new single ‘Cry About It’ has a real sinister edge, and we love how the production pairs with such confessional lyricism, although the scream just before the final chorus hits is a little scary – don’t say we didn’t warn you!

Sagittarius – Justin Park

Korean-American songwriter Justin Park, who is loved by the likes of BTSJungkook, has released his first English and Spanish-language song ‘Mi Vida.’ The song pays tribute to his hometown of Los Angeles and the “melting pot” of cultures there, and we love to see Justin appreciating the Latin culture he says “taught [him] generously.” The R&B artist has big plans for 2022, including working on a Korean album!

Capricorn – Cody Frost

Cody Frost may have been feeling extra capricious when creating ‘DWYSSWM,’ because the song is full of righteous indignation and a production switch up that you truly don’t see coming. Every single person with Capricorn zodiac placements needs to add Cody to their playlist right now.

Aquarius – Sara Kays

Aquarius/Pisces cusp Sara Kays is back with ‘When You Look At Me,’ a beautifully tender ballad about change within relationships. The song (which dropped on her birthday!) first got attention when it was just a raw demo, thanks to the almost two million followers she’s garnered on TikTok. Inspired and enthused by her fans’ reaction to the demo, Sara immediately began working on the full version of the song, and boy are we glad she did! If you’re about to become as big a fan of Sara as we are, you can check her out supporting Alec Benjamin on tour throughout the US this April and May.
